Self-briefing facilities no longer available in GAT.
My grade: Fair enough - it's a flat place to crash

We took the chance to visit this unique airport in the heart of Berlin before its announced shutdown at 31 OCT 2008. What a pitty. To the city centre its only about 10 minutes by subway (U-Bahn). Able and friendly controllers on radio.
My grade: Excellent airport for General Aviation!

Make sure you have with you your Noise Certificate. They will photocopy this the first time you ever land at Tempelhof for their records.
It also ensures that you receive a 'reduced' landing fee.

Beautiful spot, great location and definitely a place to fly in Germany - as long as it still exists (keeping fingers crossed). Fuel guys only accept cash or AMEX credit card, ATM somewhere in the building - they will tell you.

Nice airport and not complicated at all. If you get runway 27 for landing then you can watch on final what people are cooking in there kitchen because you get really close to the houses. You might pay a little bit for landing etc. more but you save a lot of money for taxi cost to the city. The center of Berlin is less then 15 Euro by taxi away.

Tempelhof is a must for European GA pilots. Excellent center controllers, a pleasure to "work" with (IFR and VFR). Unfortunately they run quite strange safety procedures (as growing since 9-11): make sure to carry your pilots licence for your city tour, if you want to be allowed back to the airplane!
Deutsches Technikmuseum in cheap taxi distance, a must for aircraft-museum flyers...

Good city access point in the heart of Berlin. Subway is in walking distance from the GAC. Staff however can be a bit difficult to deal with. Prepare for lot's of forms to fill out!
No chocks, no tiedowns. Bring your own stuff.
